Implicit+Explicit Architecture

The SRC® IMPLICIT+EXPLICIT Architecture allows users to execute existing code, or easily recompile and develop new codes, to take advantage of the power of the reconfigurable Direct Execution Logic (DEL) processors in the system.

This hardware and software architecture fully integrates Dense Logic Device (DLD) technology and reconfigurable Direct Execution Logic. No longer does the programmer have to figure out how to get microprocessor portions of his code to work with reconfigurable processor portions. The Carte Programming Environment seamlessly integrates the computational capability of the reconfigurable FPGA-based MAP® processors and microprocessors into a single application executable code. Because the SRC architecture accommodates standard programming models and languages, such as Fortran and C, a user's code can be run “as is” or tuned to take full advantage of DEL.

The DLD/DEL implementation in the IMPLICIT+EXPLICIT Architecture is made up of standard microprocessors and SRC MAP processors. With this technology and the Carte Programming Environment, the IMPLICIT+EXPLICIT Architecture can increase processing power by orders of magnitude for those computationally intensive applications that are currently running on traditional architectures.
